Rabbi Nehorai said: “Exile yourself to a place of Torah—and do not assume that it will come after you—for it is your colleagues who will cause it to remain with you; and do not rely on your own understanding.”

Our 2nd Annual ACRE Conference took place on October 15th.  We began our day with the study of some Talmud together: a provocative section from Bavli Bava Batra 21 a.  Rabbi Shai Gluskin, the facilitator of the Limmud session,  decided to begin the conversation in advance of the conference via the Twitter micro-blogging platform.

We have logged more than 75 Tweets-- interpretations, questions, responses to this text by including the following "hashtag" in the body of each tweet: #acrecon. Using this categorization system we can separate responses to this text from the millions of message being sent out on the Twitter network.

Although the Conference is over that doesn't mean our Twitter discussion should end.  We welcome and encourage more interpretations, more questions and more responses.  A discussion that started 2,000 years ago doesn't get resolved in one hour, no matter how illustrious and intelligent the group that gathered to study was :)

If you are unfamiliar with Twitter, here are instructions for getting started with Twitter: http://www.webdesignerdepot.com/2009/03/the-ultimate-guide-for-everything-twitter/

We had some people use Twitter for the first time at the Conference and we invite them to continue honing their skills.

And for the masses of Twitter experts out there, please stay part of this Talmudic conversation, 2009-style.

Your tweets marked with "#acrecon" will be collected on the Acre web site.
